Ethics Bowl team repeats win at Rocky Mountain Regional, moving on to National Championship

Ethics Bowl team repeats win at Rocky Mountain Regional, moving on to National Championship

The CU Denver Ethics Bowl team (the Ethicutioners) repeated last year's sweep of the Rocky Mountain Regional Ethics Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 19. Again a daunting force, the team argued for 10 hours, regarding cases as diverse as recruiting foreign students, how to deal with diminishing public pensions, and mixing politics with medical practice. With their undefeated run to the top of the Regional competition, the team has earned a place at the National Ethics Bowl, to be held in Cincinnati in March, 2012.

The team, composed of Dan Banta, Blake Brennan, Elle Brown, Brandon Harris, Jennifer Harvey, Sean Killan, Erica Medina, and Christina Young, is coached by Philosophy department faculty Gabriel Zamosc and Candice Shelby. Special thanks go out to the Philosophy faculty and to Jim Stratman of the Communication department for their endless hours of listening to arguments and providing acute criticisms. They will be called on again, as the team tries to surpass last year's Quarterfinalist finish and bring home the National Championship trophy.
